It is very important that 5th Grade Band Students practice their instruments at home. The students only see me for a lesson once a week; so, in order for them to progress, home practice is extremely important.
To make it easier to track their home practice time, the students are required to fill out a practice journal which will be checked in their lessons each week.
The minimum practice requirement is 90 minute per week. The students should try to practice in 15 minute practice sessions spread out throughout the week. In order for the students to get full credit for their practice time, a parent must sign their practice journal the night before their lesson each week.
If a student practices their required amount of minutes each week, they will earn a Music Buck. At the end of each marking period, they can use their Music Bucks to "buy" prizes.
